WiMax in Pakistan
Well as the rapig growth in It sector Pakistan `s Celluar setup is already being penetrated upto 70%.
Now for the BWA 3 cmpanies have jumped into it with WiMax tech.
WATEEN the first to launch their setup back in 2007 had made some serious pre-launch mistakes and still hav`nt overcomed it!On the contrary the Giant in GSM ,Mobilink also jumped into the space.Among the wast network in Pakistan they have deployed their base stations near to every 600 meters have a vast coverage area beside WATEEN who still have`nt deployed upto the mark yet.!
Now in probably Aug or Sep. another company Wi-tribe of Jordan wud be launching their services.
lets hope for the Pakistaniz to get cool services frm them as they are handy with the GSM nowadays!

Good to see your interest & knowledge (although superficial) on rapidly improving IT industry in Pakistan. Here are some fact that i would like to share with you:
1- Firstly, I inform that Wateen launched successful pre-optimized testing network and there is no mistake.
2- There is no comparison between BWA and GSM.
3- Question is that why other companies did't launch thier BWA network yet?
4- Service is very outstanding if any body have any idea to use this technology and their limitations.

well haseeb,first of all giviing 30$ a month would be not feasible for every user in pakistan for js a masti of 1mb dwnld!!!
remember GSM took 6 yrs to mature up in pakistan whn only mobilink ws operating on gsm.Then the handsets wer too costly,similarly the Wimax cpe are orig costing 460$ !!! the cpe which the mobilinkis providing id zyXel300 it cost 460$ !!!!
its arnd 36,800 rs!!! no one will bother to hear frm them if they say the the device is of 36,000 n monthly is sm what....tats y they r giving it at 12,000.
currently m using mobilink infinty,they r giving the device on pre-launch offer for 6000,with 1 month money back!

Thats good by using infinity. I will not restrict you to use only infinity.
So, the issue is only cost effective.
