Femtocells alone don't make a big wave, since they only help to increase coverage, however, if they are combined with a gateway, that can do AAA, Prepaid, LCR, or even emulate Voice, SMS, IM, etc. some very interesting business opportunities open up.

Stefan, This is 2009, not 2012 when LTE might be available
Are you sure, that you are not missing the view of the subscriber? Let's say there is an LTE operator and a WiMax operator, and they both want you as a subscriber, but you will only join one of them. There is the battle.
Agree 100% with Paul, there is no real battle between LTE and WIMAX. How many times must this be said (not only by me, but many other broadband wimax professionals)?

I believe that too, and if the real battle is as you said, WiMax should win easily.
It is available more or less now and any WiMax network. The WiMax Femtocell Gateway will be hosted by us or at the network operator. It interacts with the communication devices loging in at the registered femtocells.
Glad to hear about the announcement of a WiMAX femtocell product. When will it be available and for which WiMAX networks?

LBS and Advertising on WiMax
Telcograde just launched a combined LBS and (mobile) advertising solution for WiMax networks. LBS is not as accurate as GPS but sufficient for advertising purposes and social networks. GPS can be integrated if available on the terminals. The advertising campaign management supports banners, messaging, IM, ODPs, voice and video.

WiMax Femtocell Gateway
Telcograde just launched a WiMax Femtocell Gateway.
The Femtocell Gateway enables the control of Femtocells (and WiFi Hotspots).
Soon Femtocells will become commodity equipment affordable by any household, like WiFi routers today. In addition to WiFi routers, Femtocells will also be able to handle mobile phones.
The Femtocell gateway will support:
- AAA authentication
- Prepaid rating and charging
- Least-cost routing
Using the Femtocell gateway, the following applications can be rolled out:

The Battle Between WiMax and LTE
When I read about the battle between WiMax and LTE, I notice that all opinions just talk about technology pros and cons and exclude the view of the subscriber.
As a potential WiMax subscriber, I don't worry about underlying technology, I rather think of speed, easy access as well as transparent and flexible charging methods.
