Solectek Corporation announced the addition of 3.65 GHz WiMAX base stations and subscriber terminals tailored for Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs) and municipalities. Taiwan's Institute for Information Industry (III) and Newport Digital Technologies (NDT) announced that it is deploying a WiMAX network in Northern Italy and in Fiji. The first $1 million of the $12 million order of WiMAX IEEE 802.16-2004 base stations started shipping immediately with the balance to be delivered over the next 11 calendar months.

Wild rumors about Sprint and T-Mobile are counterpointed with real moves in the industry.
The venerable
Wall Street Journal reports that Deutsche Telekom might make a bid for Sprint Nextel to combine it with their T-Mobile service in the US. The WSJ always has solid sources so I have no doubt this thought crossed DT’s mind, but goodness what are they thinking?
