WiMAX360

Everything you need to know about WiMAX

Why is this taking so long?
Are there some reasons for this that are just complicated issues?
Or is 2.5GHz the wrong band for this to work seamlessly?

I don't have to tell you that widespread adoption of this technology depends on it.
So what is the problem?

Please help me members, with understanding what the problem is with the slow device launches.
Thanks Kobe.

I believe the problem is in mobile VoIP. Unlike Spint, CLEAR has no cellular voice network so must commission a VoIP over mobile WiMAX hand set. THere is not enough coverage now to justify that expense and tricky technology for mobile phone makers. The HTC phone sold in Russia costs about $1K. No one in the U.S. would pay that price. Further, CLEAR states they won't subsidize handsets or any CPE.

THe trend seems to be to use WiFi enabled devices to access Sprint's WiMAX service via a highly integrated personal WiFi hot spot. Will that succeed? Don' t know, but no apps for WiMAX can be developed for devices that connect via WiFi and have no awareness of location or RF characteristics of the Wimax network.

IMHO, it is now too late for Wimax phones to ever develop into a mass market

I think we r in that world where 3G is not fully adopted in all country and IEEE is not documented the band specification for 4& 5G.
and so there is an ambiguty that 2.5GHz is correct band or not.
this is only my own openion if there is any mistake then pls give me response...
Thanks
