Director, Platform SW Development
Req: 1905

The primary responsibility is to lead platform software development team in design, development and engineering of Home Networking and AV products for the Consumer / Retail Market. He/she will lead platform software development team to define the tight linkage of Linksys' Connected Life solution and to align with the direction and vision of Cisco Systems’ networked services and solutions for our customers. He/she will work closely with product management and an architecture team to translate these requirements into product roadmaps and engineering deliverables.

Responsibilities:

* Work with architecture, product management and JDM teams to create comprehensive and detailed solution definitions that can then translate into engineering specifications for software programs

* Work closely with a broad range of teams at Cisco Systems and Scientific Atlanta to define joint requirements and specifications and to leverage the technology for software development

* Participate with other senior managers in establishing strategic plans and objectives.

* Ensure all software engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with organization's established policies and objectives.

* Manage hiring, firing, advancement, assessment of staff’s performances; define goals, and rewarding performance outcomes that drive business results.

* Establish an organizational climate conducive to maximizing employee potential and productivity and retention of key talent; ensure an infrastructure is in place that motivates.


Education Qualification:

* Required: BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

* Preferred: MBA/MSCS/MSEE or other advanced degree is highly desirable


Work Experience:

* Required: 15 or more years managing software development programs or projects in a product development environment with 10 years managerial experience.

* Experience in Low end Enterprise or Consume Electronics Markets.

* Preferred: 1-2 years experience with managing ODM or JDM relationship related to Consumer / Retail Market


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Advance knowledge of the company and inter-workings of organizational units

* Advance knowledge of company policies and guidelines

* Advance knowledge of software development methodologies, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people at corporate environment

* Advance skill in implementing process re-engineering or leading quality initiative with world-wide organization

* Advance skill in negotiating and influencing senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization

* Advance skill in project leadership and the ability to lead development teams with geographically dispersed members

* Advance skill in project planning, scheduling, and organization

* Advance skill in teamwork and collaboration

* Advance interpersonal skills to interact with the entire company at all levels

* Advance ability to prioritize objectives and projects for the team

* Advance ability to facilitate meetings and lead discussions

* Advance ability to drive the development and delivery of complex cross-platform software development programs

* Advance ability to identify potential program risks, formulate plans to mitigate potential risks

* Intermediate ability to professionally communicate verbally and in writing

* Intermediate ability to participate with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives
