Frederic,
Thanks for the mail. We are working micro finance with coffee farmers and other ag workers. So. Ethiopia in the mountains (Dilla & YergeCheffe) is like Hawaii. Further North the town of Awassa is an education and business center and much of the future of ethiopia some say, with an airport planned in Awassa at some point and much building. I am a semi retired businessman and just finished my third trip bringing business people with us this time. I do not know wimax but wonder how it might help our communication and business operations with the GM of our Microfinance Institute in Addis. Ethiopian cell phones do work down there but not ours. If it too much detail for you to explain, I certainly understand. We are in Seattle and Spokane WA, a small NGO with about 350 loans out to women but other ventures developing. Kindest regards.

Hi Paul,
Sounds like you are working on an interesting project in southern Ethiopia. I was working on deploying WiMAX to Addis a few months ago with ETC.
I am now working on various projects among which a new WiMAX-based solution for broadband to rural developing areas (from Silicon Valley in CA). The technology will soon reach the price points and capacities required for such applications.
I am not that familiar with the environment in the south of the country but perhaps you can enlighten me on that.
